The scripture for today’s prayer:
After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Prayer: Lord, this is just one more instance where You have provided what was needed for the moment to achieve Your plans. The wise men show up and provide gifts that most likely were useful to Mary and Joseph and the challenges that were ahead. I am reminded again and again by these and other examples. Thank you most of all for the sacrifice of Your beloved Son Jesus at the cross for our sins. Through belief in Him all sin is forgiven and and eternal life is provided. You are a gracious and merciful Father. Amen.
