John 3:16 New King James Version (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Commentary: In the book published by C.S. Lewis entitled “The Four Loves,” Lewis proposed four definitions or types of love: affection, friendship, romantic and charity. It is the last one “charity,” or a desire to want better for someone that comes to mind in considering the verse above. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. Thank you God for the gift of your Son and the many many ways that those in the world have benefited.
