Gain the whole world, but lose your own soul…
The Scripture for today’s prayer:
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?

Commentary: So what if you could gain the whole world, perhaps in one day or even one instant. What comes to mind is the following from Matthew 4:4-10 (NLT) : 8 Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” 10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,
‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’[e]”
Lord, We are grateful that by your example the whole world is not a suitable distraction from fulfilling God’s will and His purposes.
