“I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!”…
The scripture for today’s prayer:
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!” At that point they picked up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.
John 8:58-59 New Living Translation (NLT)
Commentary: As recorded in the Gospel of John, it was shocking to those who heard these words. And the crowd whose ears heard the words “I Am” began preparing to throw stones at Him. A proper response for blasphemy in that time. But Jesus disappeared.
To say that “I Am” was to claim to always exist. No limitations related to the past or future. This harkens back to the instructions from God to Moses on Mt. Sinai, ” tell the people of Israel; I Am has sent me to you.
The following verse comes to mind: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 (ESV)
Prayer: Lord, It is outside of my ability to fully understand “I am” but I do know that you are completely sovereign and in many ways without limits. I am grateful to have and believe in you and the Heavenly Father. Amen.
